Overview

At a glance

Brookwater Golf & Country Club is an 18-hole, par 72 course at Brookwater in Ipswich, west of Brisbane. It was designed by Greg Norman and welcomes visitors who book a tee time online. The club also has a driving range, restaurant and function facilities.

How it compares

Full-length 18 holes
  • A par-72 layout.
  • Rated 4.1 on Google, below the typical 4.3 for courses around Brisbane.

Brookwater is a Greg Norman design laid out through an estate west of Brisbane, and the 18 holes play to a par of 72. Golfers often describe each fairway as a corridor through trees and bush, with water hazards crossing several holes and large, well-shaped bunkers. Many reviewers call it tough but fair and visually intimidating, and some mention uneven lies because there is little flat ground. Greens are usually described as quick and smooth, though a few recent visitors found them grainy or slow after maintenance.

Conditions are the most divisive point. Plenty of reviewers rate the presentation highly, while others in recent months point to leaves and branches on fairways, worn tee boxes and bunkers in poor shape, and say the green fee felt steep for what they got. Golfers also mention snakes in the long grass off the fairway, so it pays to keep the ball in play.

The club has a driving range with several bays, a practice putting green and a pro shop. Carts have GPS screens, and reviewers say they are new and clean. The clubhouse sits beside the 18th hole with a bar and restaurant, and the club also runs functions and mini golf. Visitors are welcome and tee times are booked online through the club's booking calendar; some reviewers found the online-only booking awkward. It suits confident players who want a stern test and are happy to pay a premium rate.
