Palmer Colonial is a flat, water-heavy course at Robina, opened in 1992 as Paradise Springs and designed by Mitsuaki Kobayashi. It is 18 holes, par 72, and 6,424 metres. Lakes, waterways and bridges come into play on many holes, and reviewers who like it call it a challenging layout with some interesting holes, easy to walk because there is so little hill.
The recurring theme in reviews is condition versus price. Golfers often say the fairways are fine, but the greens are bumpy, slow or weedy, bunkers have been out of play or full of gravel for months, tee boxes are worn, and facilities look tired. Several mention leftover debris after recent storm and cyclone damage on a low-lying site, and many say the green fee feels high for what they received. A smaller group of visitors found the course in good order, quiet, and easy to book, with a round taking around three hours.
The club lists one visitor rate of $125 for 18 holes including a shared motorised cart, and public visitors are welcome seven days a week from sunrise to sunset. Reviewers report paying anywhere between about $90 and $120 at different times, so check the booking page before you go. There is a driving range with chipping and putting greens, though one reviewer complained about hard range balls. The Queenslander-style clubhouse has verandahs overlooking the course, and reviewers rate the restaurant and the building. A collared shirt and tailored shorts are expected, and denim is not allowed. It suits golfers who want a flat, quiet round and can accept uneven conditioning.

“Can't think why some people Slag this place off. Very pleasant, easy to book, unlike other Gold Coast courses, and in good condition. Lots of water, but it's very flat. Got round in 3 hours...”

“A great layout and challenging course. A little tired in places and the bunkers weren't up to the price tag. Staff were very amenable and the speed of play was good. Got on to book only the day before at a busy time of year.”
