How it compares

Full-length 18 holes
  • A par-70 layout.
  • Green fees from $44 for 18 holes, about the typical $45 around Brisbane (2 of the 12 18-hole courses that publish visitor rates are cheaper).
  • Rated 3.6 on Google, below the typical 4.3 for courses around Brisbane.

Pine Rivers is a hilly 18-hole course at Kurwongbah, between Brisbane and Moreton Bay, with a par of 70 according to the supplied course data. The club was founded in 1973, opened nine holes in 1975 and finished the 18-hole layout in 1984. Golfers often describe the terrain as the defining feature: nearly every hole sits on a slope, and the closing holes get a lot of praise. Reviews are mixed on upkeep, with several mentioning patchy greens, bare fairways and overgrown areas, though a couple of recent visitors say there has been visible work done on tees and the course. A few also find the layout confusing, with holes that cross each other and sparse signage, so pay attention to the course map on your first visit. It is quiet midweek but can get busy on Saturday afternoons. Visitors pay $44 for 18 holes or $29 for nine, seven days a week, though social players cannot book Tuesday or Saturday mornings because of member competitions. Motorised carts, pull buggies and hire clubs are available, and the club has a golf shop, PGA coaching and four TrackMan simulators. A collared shirt and covered-in shoes are required. It suits golfers after a cheap, undulating round rather than polished conditions.

“Pleasantly surprised after reading the Google reviews which were complaining about bare fairways and the layout. It's not a resort course but it's not a goat track either. There's obviously been some work done and there's currently some…”
