Overview

At a glance

The Brisbane Golf Club is a private 18-hole, par 71 course at Yeerongpilly in Brisbane's south, founded in 1896 and on its current site since 1904. It has hosted the Queensland Open a record 21 times and is ranked in Australia's top 100.

How it compares

Private club
  • Members and their guests only.
  • At 6,638 m it's longer than most 18-hole courses around Brisbane (typical 5,830 m).

The Brisbane Golf Club at Yeerongpilly is a private members' club whose course plays to par 71 and about 6,640 metres from the Navy Blue tees, with slopes from 113 to 130 across the four tees listed. The original design is credited to Sydney professional Carnegie Clark, and over the years a dozen or so architects, captains and professionals have shaped it, including Alister MacKenzie, Wayne Grady and, currently, Ross Watson. The course has TifEagle greens, Winter Green fairways and 75 bunkers across the 18 holes plus three extra holes.

The club was founded at Chelmer in 1896 with nine holes before moving to Yeerongpilly in 1904. It has hosted the Queensland Open a record 21 times, and the course record of 63 was set in the 2018 event. It is ranked in Australia's top 100 courses.

Only three Google reviews are on file, so there is little to go on for conditions. One visitor liked the fairways and greens and the clubhouse but found it hard to work out where the next tee was, which suggests visitors should ask for directions. The other two reviews are about Christmas Day dining.

This is not a public course. Third-party listings say limited tee times are offered to interstate and overseas visitors on certain days, but the club's own site does not state visitor access or green fees, so contact the club. A strict dress code applies on the course and in the clubhouse, and soft spikes are required. It suits members, reciprocal club members and visiting golfers who arrange a game in advance.

“Lovely fairways and putting greens. Staff friendly and club house/dining facilities great. However finding the right tee and trying to figure out where the next tee is leaves a lot to be desired for any visitor. Confusion reigns supreme…”
