Overview

At a glance

Kooralbyn Valley is an 18-hole, par 72 resort golf course in the Scenic Rim, south-west of Brisbane. It opened in October 1979 to a Desmond Muirhead design and was rebuilt and reopened in 2016. Non-members can play and book online.

How it compares

Full-length 18 holes
  • A par-72 layout.
  • Rated 4.2 on Google, about the typical 4.3 for courses around Brisbane.

Kooralbyn Valley Golf Course is the golf side of the Kooralbyn Valley resort, in the Scenic Rim about an hour south-west of Brisbane. The 18-hole course opened in October 1979 to a design by Desmond Muirhead, then was redesigned and rebuilt by Marcus Lane of Atlas Golf with shaper Lindsey Richter, reopening in 2016. The resort describes it as a championship course with contrasting nines, and the 5th is a 220 metre par 3. The course is par 72 on the map data we hold. The resort markets it as the former home course of Jason Day and Adam Scott. Non-members can book online and pay non-member rates; the golf shop is open limited hours, so phoning ahead is sensible. Published rates include $25 for nine holes with a cart for non-members, and a non-member cart is $50 for 18. Golfers often say the course is a good test and quiet, and several recent reviews call it good value for stay-and-play weekends. Condition comments vary: some find it in great shape, others note dry tees, patchy and wet greens, rough cart paths and older carts. The resort accommodation and tavern are also praised, though some guests find the rooms dated. It suits groups, stay-and-play trips and golfers who want an uncrowded round away from the city.
