Canungra Area Golf Club is a country nine-hole course beside the Coomera River in the Scenic Rim. Each hole has two tees, so the second time round plays differently from the first, with a mix of par 3s, 4s and 5s. The course is split into two parts by the river, and the walk from the 7th green back to the 8th tee is around 500 metres, so golfers often suggest booking a cart. Notable holes include a dogleg opener with big trees on the corner, a funnel-shaped third fairway that narrows to about 20 metres near the green, and a par 3 played downhill from the newer 5th tee.
Reviewers describe a quiet, relaxed course with wide fairways, good scenery and prices well below most Gold Coast and Brisbane clubs. Several say they would call it the best nine-hole course they have played. One walker noted nine holes takes about an hour and 45 minutes, and another found the grass long and thick after heavy rain.
There is a licensed clubhouse with drinks and snacks, a pro shop, electric carts, pull buggies and club hire, plus coaching. Social players are welcome, and an honesty box handles green fees outside clubhouse hours. There is no online booking, so call the club before you go. It suits beginners, casual players and anyone after a cheap, uncrowded game. The club has also said the land it sits on is under threat from a federal government proposal to sell defence land, so check its status before travelling.
